MY LIFE AT THE MOMENT

Hey Fashionistas!!!!

In two years, I will be going to college. In Oak Park, Illinois- current population-50,824, if you don't go to college, then you are a failure in life. So they pressure you to get good grades, to join different clubs just for that purpose. Almost everyone at OPRF goes to college. I mean, what is there to do when you don't go to college? Work? Lay around all day? That won't be me. I'm going to college.

So I have come up with my list of colleges that I'm interested in.

1. Howard University
2. University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana
3. Illinois State University
4. Columbia College Chicago
5. Fisk University
6. Northern Illinois University
7. Western Illinois University
8. University of Illinois in Chicago
9. Spelman College
10. Hampton University

I want to go to Howard soooooo badly, it's my dream school. I love the campus and the student life. I feel as if I would learn alot there, not just school-wise but life-wise. I have to work really hard to go there though, but I will do what I have to do to achieve my dream.
Anyway enough of my college rant...
I love James Franco, he was amazing in Pineapple Express. Watch this funny clip of him on The Tizzle Wizzle Show:
Well later for now fashionistas..
and remember one little thing for me
do what you love and love what you do!

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Hey Fashionistas!!!!

I hope you guys had a Merry Christmas. I know I did. I got to spend time with my amazing family. For X-mas I got these awesome pair of Coach sneakers. I'm in love with them. Check them outtt.

Anyway..I got a review on album coming your way.
Over the past couple of days, I've been watching the Disney Channel like crazy. I love watching their Christmas movies and they remind me of Christmas when I was wayy younger. So in between commercials, when I was watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, Demi Lovato's new single "Remember December" came on. At first I was like "Oh God, this song is going to sound terrible". But when I listened to the song more, the song wasn't terrible at all. In fact, it was really good. Then I set off to get her entire new album-Here We Go Again with the small hope that the entire album won't be terrible. I listened to it a couple times and the album is definitely better than her first album Don't Forget. With the new album, she uses different songwriters to give the album a more mature sound. I think also, with this album, she tries to break away from her teeny-pop persona, which I like alot.

Overall, If you are sick of listening to boring music that makes you fall asleep. Run to the nearest music store to purchase Demi Lovato's Here We Go Again and I promise you won't regret it.

Later Fashionistas...and remenber one thing for me.

NEW OBSESSION- BLEACHING CLOTHES

Hey Fashionistas!!

I am finally on winter break. Yesss. For two weeks, I don't have to step into that building of hell called high school. But the bad side to it is that finals are in three weeks. Shit I have to start studying or else I'm going to bomb my finals. Junior year is not fun at all. High School is sooo over rated.

Anyway...

So for the past couple of weeks, I've been bleaching some of my clothes. I mostly bleach the clothes that are really boring or have an ugly wash color. So far I have bleached one t-shirt, two pairs of jeans and one denim vest. Last Thursday, I bleached my really old blue jeans jacket. I've had that jacket since I was in fourth grade and it needed an upgrade. I used a shitload of bleach and let it sit for about ten minutes. And the work was done! But I had to wash the jacket three times to get the bleach out it. You have to be really careful with the bleach; it can turn your skin and burn the shit out of your eyes. So remember wear gloves and goggles! Then, I just cut the sleeves off and voila!!

I am planning to wear my vest any chance I get. I'm excited!!!

When I wear my bleached clothes, I always get complements. Those clothes help me stand out because not that many people at OPRF wear bleached clothes.

So..in the end, if you need to spice up your clothes..bleaching is a nice option.

Well Fashionistas...I'm off on this freezing night in the Windy City.

And remember one thing for me..do what you love and love what you do!!

LIEBEMARLENE'S COOL PHOTOSTREAM

Salut Fashionistas!!!!!!!

Wow..I'm hella tired. My nasty homework load is making me sleep deprived. I cannot wait until Summer Vacation...or just Winter break. Zzzzzzzzzzz. I can get tons of sleep and do zero homework. Life is good.

Anyway, last week in my fashion merchandising class we had to come up with an ad campaign for a boutique that we are opening up (it's a project). I was surfing the web to find a picture that fit with the image of the boutique and I found these pics. Check them outttt. Her photo are really pretty and intense. I used first picture for my ad. I love her outfits too. The best part is that she finds the majority of her clothes at thrift stores and Ebay. Who ever is her photographer has got some talentt.
Here's the link to see the rest of her pics: www.flickr.com/photos/liebemarlene/
Well, I'm off to church on this cold Sunday morning in the windy city.

RODARTE FOR TARGET..MY FAV PICKS!

Hey fashionistas!!!

So this week was okay. I had my first flute lesson in months with a new teacher. I had alottt of schoolwork. Not fun. I learned that fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson lives in the same town as me. How cool is that? Be jealouss. That girl is only 13 and is already meeting fashion icons. What a life. That girl has mad style. Big Props to her. I love her blog too. She is def not a style rookie, she knows her shit.
IT'S SATURDAY! I have plenty of opportunities to chill out now. Hollerr.

So I heard about this new Rodarte for Target collection and I really wanted to check it out. At first I was really hesitant because I have never really liked those designer lines from target except Anna Sui's line with Gossip Girl. But this line is amazing, I love the leopard print dress and the belted cardigan below. Usually Rodarte prices are sky high expansive but the leopard print dress is $45 ...which isn't bad at all. I also have hot passion for lace tights and I am def purchasing them when this line debuts on December 20 at target. I think I will make a good effort to hit by Target to get those outfits on December 20.

Anyway later fashion lovers....
and remenber one thing for me.

BREAK UP

Hey Fashionistas!!!!

Hope you had an eventful Thanksgiving break filled with many opportunities to shop until you drop. HOLLERRR

A couple of weeks ago, one of my friends recommended for me to listen to the new Scarlett Johansson and Pete Yorn album entitled Break Up. I listened to the first song "Relator" and it blew my mind away. Who knew that Scarlett Johannson could sing? I mean, I knew she had a album before this one, but that album received really bad reviews. She has a great voice and with the collaboration of Pete Yorn, this album is truly well done and written. Pete Yorn wrote the majority of all the songs.

In this album, they sing about relationships. The highs and the lows included. They sing about how distance strains a relationship and about falling in love with the person of your dreams. But the best part about this album is that they make it relate-able. That's right...relate-able. I mean, many people can relate to having an awful break-up or falling in love for the first time. That's why this album is amazing, in my opinion. Why make music that people can't relate to?
But anyway listen to this album and I promise you won't regret it.
Later Fashionistas and remember do what you love and love what you do

MA ROBE ROSE DE PRESSE

Hey Fashionistas!!!!
So a couple weeks ago in my fashion merchandising class, our assignment was to make a costume design for a movie genre and to make the dress out of anything we wanted. The movie genre I picked was Sci-Fi. I imagined that my dress would be a cool prom dress for a Sci-Fi movie. So I decided to make my dress, out of newspaper. It wasn't an easy task. First, I had to find newspaper and glue the layers of newspaper together. Then, I mixed paint colors to make the pink color to paint on the newspaper. After the paint dried, I tape the edges with duct tape to give the dress a finished look. Then, I fitted the dress to my model (my little sister). I made the dress to have one shoulder strap and a fitted waist line.

Overall, I loved this project and the dress! On the waist line, there is a little flower made out of newspaper.

The dress is a original design by moi (Taylor Danielle).
Here's some shots of the dress on my model on the upper right side.
Well later for now my beauties and remember...do what you love and love what you do!

THE VIRGIN SUICIDES

This movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Mad props to Sofia Coppola who directed it. BEYOND AMAZING! If you haven't seen this movie, rent it, buy it, netflix it...just make sure that you get the chance to see it.
The movie is about the suicides of five sisters living in 1970s Grosse Point, Michigan. And I know what you thinking "Ohhh suicide! We can't watch a movie on that!!" But seriously this is a fascinating movie. The death of the five sisters shook the community they lived in to the core as a group of young boys try to find an explanation for their acts.
Here's a picture of the school heartthrob, Trip Fontaine (played by Josh Hartnett) on the top right. I think that every girl can relate to the having a crush on the school hottie, if you know what I mean. Then on top left, there's a picture of the four Lisbon sisters (played by Kirsten Dunst, A.J. Cook, Leslie Hayman and Chelsea Swain)
This movie is not only about suicide, but about freedom. Many teenagers like myself, want freedom. Freedom makes us feels independent as individuals and we can finally get away from parents. That's exactly what the Lisbon girls wanted. Freedom. But at what point will we get the chance to obtain freedom?
Pressure is another big factor. Pressure to find in and conforming to the norm. In the Virgin Suicides case, the pressure came in when Trip wanted to have sex with Lux Lisbon. But just because we are pressure to do something, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Stick out and be a individual. Be different and be bold. Don't be afraid to be yourself. Be unique. That's why I love fashion because it gives me a chance to be a individual. A cool and funky one.
But anyway, this movie is the best! GO SEE IT!
Later Fashionistas. and remember... do what you love and love what you do!
