WEEKDAY UPDATE

Hey fellow fashionistas!!!!!

I have been uber busy with school work, finals and extra curricular activities. But since I am officially a second semester junior with three more semester left in my high school career (haha yes suckers) I will have more time to blog about fashion.

I'm off to do more algebra of the advanced kind.

Later Fashionistas.

DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME.

Hey Fashionistas!

I'm in a 80s flashback mood right now, I just saw the critics choice awards re-runs and one of my favorite bands in the world- DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE played "Don't You Forget About Me" from one of the coolest 80s high school movie in the history of the world- The Breakfast Club. In the awards show, they did a tribute to John Hughes- who defined a generation by producing excellent, funny and outrageous movies about the teenage years.

I think out of all the John Hughes movie I've seen (and trust me I'm seen all of them) my favorite movie has to be Pretty in Pink. Pretty in Pink tells the story of Andie Walsh (played by Molly Ringwald) who is poor but still fashion conscious New Wave girl who has a huge crush on one of the rich, cool, preppy guys-Blane McDonough (played by Andrew McCartney). When Andie and Blane try to make their relationship work, they are pressured from their social circles to not to be together. Did I happen to mention how adorable Andrew McCartney is in this movie? He's pretty amazing.

Andie gets alot of criticism for the ways she dresses- she doesn't have long blonde hair, she doesn't wear blazers, Ralph Lauren or Lacoste polos, or freshly starched khaki pants. Nope, she dresses how she wants to. She doesn't follow the fashion rules, she makes her own. Which I absolutely love, love, love.

This is the perfect time to announce that I'm going to start keeping a outfit photo log...every day for the month of February..I will take a picture of my different outfits.
I'm pretty excited and you should be to.
Well later Fashionistas...
and remember one thing for me...

LOLITA FAIRYTALE

Hey Fashionistas!!!!

So I been noticing something interesting that been going on in the fashion world. Something extremely serious. Just kidding. But...... the lolita trend is back in!!! And....better than ever. Many designers from Betsey Johnson to Marc Jacobs have reinvented this trend. At Prada, little bitty pinafords were paired with red lips, pigtails and funny plastic shades. The only thing missing was a huge red lollipop.
I like this trend because it's really youthful and creative. TWO THUMBS UP!
Anyway..Later Fashionistas..

BURBERRY PRORSUM PRE FALL 2010

Hey Fashionistas!!!!

Enough of my summer rant, lets spring into fall, shall we?
Burberry is one of my favorite lines of the moment. Their creative director, Christopher Bailey is a true visionary. With this blue jacket, he combined two trends into one. The military chic and the shoulder emphasis. The shoulder emphasis is just right, with not too much padding. Really simple but chic at the same time.
The jacket looks like a super edgy World War II military jacket. I LOVE IT!!! Being in the marching band for my high school, I have developed a special place in my heart for military jackets. This jacket is the perfect transition for fall.
Later my darlings and during this tedious week please remember one thing pour moi.
Do what you love and love what you do,

DEAR SUMMER....

Dear Summer,

I really miss you. Where have you been? I miss your golden rays brightening up my day. Without your light, I'm really lonely. I miss all the memories I made with you, the good and the bad. I miss riding my bike through downtown Oak Park and to the high school. I miss the flowers and the sound of birds singing. I really miss going to Oak Street Beach and swimming in Lake Michigan. COMEE BACKK ASAP! It's January now in Chicago, and it's freezing. The winter ruins my happiness and reminds me of finals. EWW! I can't wait to see you again..in four months..summer of 2010 is going to be excellent! Summer before senior year. HOOZAH!

If you get a chance stop by sometime, I would feel like your rays again.

Love, Love and even more Love,

TD

WAITING, WAITING AND EVEN MORE WAITING

Hey Fashionistas!!!!!!

Vampire Weekend New Album Contra comes out soon. I'm sooo excited. That album is going to be sick as hell. I just listened to their new single "Cousins". All ready in my top 25 most listened to list in my iTunes. They are going on tour soon and I want to see them soooo badly. They are coming to Chicago on their tour, so I will try to be there. They are def in my top ten favorite band list. Along with She & Him (Zooey Deschanel is amazing!) , Jonas Brothers, Honor Society, Death Cab for Cutie, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Cool Kids and Franz Ferdinand. Out of all their songs "Oxford Comma" is the best. Because who gives f&^k about an oxford comma? If you have listened to the song, you know what I mean. ;)
Later Fashionistas....
and please remember one little thing pour moi.
Do what you love and most importantly love what you do.
